vacation planning

sean takes his boards in april, and we are planning on a (much needed) vacation once he finishes. we've had several ideas so far, but haven't actually done research on any yet. the only priorities are  1. that it's relatively affordable (let's face it, the economy is not going to be THAT much better by april) and  2. that it's somewhere that has lots to do but we can also relax and enjoy some down time. with that said, here are the ideas we've had so far:

seattle
portland
grand canyon & southwest
hawaii
(most likely unrealistic but it HAD to go on the list)
san francisco & napa
chicago

sean and i have both been to san fran and chicago (i have family in both places, so i've been several times) but they are such amazing places- we definitely have no problem going back. we are also thinking that we may be able to find some last minute deals to europe. "last minute" really isn't my thing... i've always been a planner. but i think i could find a way to deal with last minute europe plans :)
i could prioritize these according to my desire to go there, but in the end, the numbers will prevail. the cheaper the better. if you have any advice on finding cheap flights & hotels, or general information about travelling to any of these places, please share.

  1. I saw on then news that flights from Nashville to London were going for $400 dollars! Once you get there it certainly isn't cheap though. But I was upset we paid $250 to go to boston when we could have spent a little more for London!

I think that after the boards is a perfect time to go to Kentucky and stay in teepees. ;)
